Our annual holiday gift collection for Cambridge senior citizens returned to the MIT campus in person for the 2021-2022 academic year. The collection is our biggest in-kind donation drive of the year, and 23 departments across MIT participated in our return to in-person collections during the holiday season. You can see the Cambridge Police Department delivering the first few of 900 gift bags to grateful seniors over on their Instagram! The CPD sent their sincerest thanks to all who participated this year.
As you know, the holidays are a time to come together with family and friends. Unfortunately, many seniors in our community do not spend the holidays surrounded by loved ones... This year (our 15th!) was without a doubt our most challenging, with Cambridge seniors in more need than ever due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have received many heartfelt 'thanks' from seniors who received gifts. We wanted to pass along our thanks to you and recognize your contributions to the program. Secret Santa for Seniors would not have been possible, or nearly as successful, if it were not for the generous donations from the community and local businesses.
