Massachusetts Bay Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is an organization where teenagers can build their leadership skills, learn teamwork, and train on military ships – all with the support of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard. MIT Lincoln Laboratory staff serve as some of the mentors and leaders for the program, including at the International SeaPerch Competition.

The Sea Perch competition challenges the Sea Cadets in an underwater robotics program where they take the robots they built and compete in multiple courses, including an obstacle course and a speed course. The teams design and customize their robots, all while learning basic marine engineering skills.

The MIT Community Service Fund has provided grant money to support the purchase of the robotics kits for the 2024 competition. In the 2023 competition, the Massachusetts Bay Division had three teams participating Team Voyager placed 26th, Team Cousteau 37th, and Team Squid 66th out of 70 high school teams.
